Amazon Europe · Localization + Compliance
Win on Amazon Europe.
Localized to sell, compliant to stay.
AI can translate your listing in one click. It can't make it sound native to a German shopper — or keep it legal under EU advertising and product-safety law. We do both: a listing that ranks and converts, reviewed by a native speaker and screened for the claims that trigger an Abmahnung.
01 · The real problem
AI got your German listing 80% right — and left the 20% that costs you.
The cheap, instant tools are good enough to look fine and bad enough to lose sales. The damage hides in two places:
① The native gap — quietly kills conversion
German shoppers feel a machine-written listing instantly, even when every word is "correct." The tells we fix:
- • Wrong article & case ("Dieses Vakuumierer"), du/Sie mixing
- • Untranslated English mode names & run-on compound words
- • Fullwidth punctuation (,:) and emoji-Unicode copied from the source
- • Literal phrasing that reads like a warning label, not a benefit
② The compliance gap — can get you fined or suspended
This is what no AI tool and no Fiverr gig touches — and it's where the real money is lost:
- • Unsourced "Testsieger" / "Nr. 1" claims → UWG violation, classic Abmahnung bait (BGH requires a cited source)
- • Missing GPSR producer/safety details now required on EU listings
- • Health/efficacy claims that are fine in the US but illegal in the DACH market
- • Listings that risk takedown — and the ad-spend behind them
We're the layer between "auto-translated and exposed" and "native, persuasive, and legally clean." That layer is a human who knows the market — and it can't be one-clicked away.
02 · Our edge
A compliance review that AI can't fake and most agencies skip.
Every listing we build is screened against the rules that actually get sellers in trouble in Germany and the EU. You stay competitive and off the radar of the law firms that send Abmahnungen for a living.
UWG & advertising claims
We flag "Testsieger", "Nr. 1", "beste", and superlatives that need a cited source — before a competitor's lawyer does.
GPSR & product safety
We check that the producer info and safety details the EU now requires are present and correctly phrased for each marketplace.
Market-specific rules
France's Toubon law, German formal/informal conventions, units, and trust cues — handled per country, not copy-pasted.
Marktreif is not a law firm and this is not legal advice — we surface and rewrite the high-risk claims so you can publish with confidence and consult counsel where it matters.
03 · See the difference
The same listing — before, and after we touch it.
One machine-translated kitchen listing, rebuilt. We do this across Germany, France, Italy and Spain — here's a German title as a taste; the full teardowns for all four markets live on the examples page.
Vakuumierer Gerät 90Kpa Automatische Lebensmittel Vakuum Versiegelung Maschine mit 10 Beutel, Trocken und Feucht Modus, Smart Touch, Bestes Vakuumiergerät für Zuhause
Keyword pile-up, English left in (Smart Touch), and an unprovable "Bestes" — §5 UWG Abmahnung bait.
Vakuumierer für Lebensmittel – 90 kPa, Trocken- und Feuchtmodus, inkl. 10 Profi-Beutel – stark gegen Gefrierbrand, ideal für Sous-vide und zum Vorportionieren
EN “Vacuum sealer for food – 90 kPa, dry & moist mode, incl. 10 pro bags – strong against freezer burn, ideal for sous-vide.” — native, benefit-led, claim-safe.
Articles, case & Testsieger claims.
Accents + loi Toubon (French required).
English out, superlatives cut.
Accents fixed, native rewrite.
04 · The math
Put a number on it — with your own assumptions.
Localizing a listing lifts conversion; how much depends on your product. So we don't hand you a number — you set the uplift you'd expect, and we do the arithmetic honestly, with real per-market pricing.
Your call — we default low (8%) on purpose. Set it to whatever you actually believe.
Illustrative only — not a promise. Results vary by product, category, price and traffic. The direction is well documented: CSA Research's "Can't Read, Won't Buy" study found 76% of shoppers prefer to buy in their own language.

Questions
Straight answers.
Can't AI or Helium 10 just do this now? +
AI gets you ~80% there — and leaves the 20% that matters: native phrasing a German shopper trusts, and the compliance claims that get listings fined or pulled. We're the human layer on top that AI can't replace: native review plus a UWG/GPSR screen.
Isn't this just translation? +
No. Translation swaps words. We rebuild the listing around how locals search and buy — keywords, tone, trust cues, units — then a native speaker reviews it and we screen it for legal risk.
What's this about "Abmahnung" and compliance? +
In Germany, competitors and law firms can formally warn (and bill) you for unfair-advertising claims — e.g. an unsourced "Testsieger". We flag and rewrite those, and screen the EU-wide rules too: GPSR product safety, EPR (LUCID/WEEE), VAT, batteries and the new PPWR packaging rules. Not legal advice, but it keeps you off the obvious radar — see the full breakdown.
Can you just check my listing for compliance, without rewriting it? +
Yes — that's our standalone Compliance Review (from €49/listing): we screen your existing listing for VAT, GPSR, EPR, batteries, PPWR and UWG risk and hand back a prioritized fix list. It's also included free in every full localization. Details here.
Which marketplaces do you cover? +
Germany is our flagship, and we localize and compliance-screen for France, Italy and Spain too — see real before/afters for each. Need another European market? Tell us — we add markets on request.
What do you need from me? +
Just your current listing — title, bullets, description — and the markets you want. Keywords or brand guidelines welcome but optional.
What if I'm not happy? +
Try it risk-free: send one listing and we localize it free so you judge the quality first. Bundles include a free revision per listing.
Who's behind this
You'll work with me, not an account manager.
Marktreif is run by Gabriel Rodriguez. I started it after watching solid products from outside Europe stall on Amazon.de — not because they were bad, but because the listing read like it had been through a translator, and nobody had checked the German rules that quietly get listings suppressed or fined.
I'm based in the US and work with a native German reviewer on every listing we deliver. There's no agency layer here — you talk to me directly, I'll tell you straight when something isn't worth doing, and I'd rather hand you one listing you can paste in and publish than sell you ten you can't trust.
That's the whole pitch. If that's the kind of help you want, send me a listing and judge the work yourself.
